    Happy 4th and have a great summer!

    I'm hearing from a number of you folks directly about new project possibilities, both well known and adapted- it's something good to see!

    But meanwhile, I'm wishing everyone a great weekend for the 4th and best wishes for the rest of the year!

      Happy belated 4th. The forum software is staying updated and running smoothly. I will put an announcement together in the next few months for a server upgrade. The time has come to upgrade the operating system again to give us new features needed. Hope everyone had a good holiday and looking forward to reading more build stories that members share.

        Well, I'm probably going to start a new project/build story because of interest by some (via private communication) in an updated M8ta based off updated Calliope internals, about 50L net volume. I'm going to try to not get distracted (much!) from the Saint-Säens planar, and will "cheat" by falling back to modifying the Wavecor Ardent cabinet original plan. This will use the MW19TX-8 woofer, and the DA32TX-008 tweeter, with my usual so-called LR3 crossover concept. Given the linearity of the drivers, and the body of past experience, the crossover should be a straightforward exercise, maybe even a walk in the park, so to speak!

          That'll be a big 2-way! Potentially a pretty good value though considering the low cost of the tweeter and the relatively reasonable cost of the woofer.

            Well, that was the intent with the original M8ta variations, but with the advance of component technology, this should take it another step in distortion reduction and faithful tonality- that's the hope- while still keeping the potential for a reasonable price. This could be built with the MW19P-8, or the MW19TX-8, but a nearly 2:1 difference in the price of the woofer, Of course, it could be ramped up even further, with the PuriFi PTT8.0X04-NAB or X08- I have some NIB, but those have REALLY gotten hideously expensive- you know, like speakers for the 1% expensive!

            This is a version I built with the Hales tweeter.

            A cautionary tale of summer travel and "summer colds".
            by JonMarsh
            Recently we traveled to Seattle to visit wife's daughter's family there- just a short stop over, driving on Thursday, staying on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and driving home on Monday.

            It was a good opportunity to connect in person with extended conversation- many folks are not really...

            Hey all, I just notice it's been about a year since I signed on as a memeber of this forum.

            Did the HTG have a birthday party I missed?

            If not, I would like to say;

            Happy Anniversary HTG, thanks to it, Doug and all of you that make this a great place to...

            by AJINFLA
            Happy 4th to all,
            hope it was a safe and enjoyable one. The long extended weekend meant for the first time in like a decade I would have a chance to build (or start building actually) the rears for my HT, since the office was abandonded this weekend. The main driver is a KEF Ci200QR ($140/pr-Audiogon),...
