How to set up Pioneer DV-F07 video settings

I recently got a Pioneer DV-F07 DVD/CD changer, and really like it. However, I have not adjusted the video. I think the video settings are Y/C Delay, Gamma, Sharpness, Detail, and DNR.
I've read in another forum already to turn DNR completely off to avoid pixelation, but how should I adjust the other parameters? I do have an AVIA test disk.

    Thanks, Larry

Larry, ultimately, this will change some of your TV settings. My suggestion is try changing the various parameters with the TV set like it is. Notice if it seems to make any improvements. If it does, set it the way you want it, and now recalibrate your RPTV using Avia. I think the final setting should be made at the TV level using Avia.

Now it could be that some of the parameters don't impact the same settings as the TV to the image. But I really can't say which ones if any fall into that group.

Regarding your changer issue. I understand your loaded heavy in CDs. I am not sure exactly why you bought 2 DVD changers and then load them with CDs. Unless you just don't have many DVDs yet, as I think you said. Regarding the random being set only on 1 changer. I think that stands to reason. The "connectivity" of the two devices is just not that intelligent. It's really not designed to give you much more than all 602 DVDs or CDs listed in 1 menu. Which it will do.

In short, don't beat yourself up because it doesn't make the greatest CD changer. In the end, you will fill them up with DVDs anyway, and that part, it does very very well. Nice purchase.

I would like to add a second sometime soon myself, though I don't know where I will put it!

Also, thanks for joining up. That's perhaps as fast as anyone has ever accepted an invitation.

    Thank you,

    Lex

      Lex,

My sign-up seemed fast because I signed up before I got your email message. Thanks for replying to my post as well as my email message. I'll review the AVIA guides to see if they have some suggestions. I had already set up my RPTV once using AVIA on my former DVD player, a JVC. All adjustments were on the TV, none available on the player itself. Now on the player, besides DNR, which I've set completely to OFF, there is Gamma (adjusts brightness of darker images), Sharpness, Detail (adjusts "clarity" and "edges" respectively), and YC Chroma Delay. It seems that Gamma would interact with the dark level adjustment on the TV. I know the goal is to have the black level be perfect, and it seems that either the Gamma control or the TV adjustments can do that using the AVIA test pattern. There may be something explicit in Avia for Chroma Delay as well, I can't remember. I have no idea on sharpness and detail other than putting in a disc and seeing what happens when adjusted.

Your site looks interesting, I'm happy to be a part of it.

      thanks,
      Larry
