I am about to buy a Zenith 40" 16:9 HD-Ready Rear-Projection TV with DVI Input, 480p/1080i progressive scan, Model R40W46. It has DVI, Component, S-Video, and Composite inputs. I will be using the TV mostly for DVD movies.
Is it worth getting a DVD player with upconversion? How exactly can a DVD player give a higher resolution than what is already on the disc? Should I bother getting a player with DVI output or will component end up being the same quality?
I'm also in the market for a sound system. Should I get a sound system and DVD player seperately or get them together? Any recommendations? Price is a big factor, I want to keep the combined price under $250. One of the ones I am looking at is the Koss 1,000W 6.1-Ch. Home Theater System with Progressive-Scan DVD/CD/MP3 Player . It doesn't look like it has DVI or upscaling but because I am mostly watching DVD movies does that really matter?
