    Best DVDs Released in 2000

Time for me to add some "current" movies to my Netflix queue. What does everyone think are the best new DVDs released in Year 2000 so far?

Are you talking about all of 2000, or just the last few months? In the last few months catagory, I'd definitely reccomend the new Jaws release. If you haven't already seen the LD SE. The documentary alone is worth the price of the disc.

Well, I haven't been real active as far as what's been coming to DVD. I think a few better films are coming out by Christmas. In other words, what showed this summer.

But films from this year's releases that I liked, Matrix, The World Is Not Enough, Entrapment, and a few others that I can't really name right off. DTS Twister, DTS Terminator II, have also been well received. Though still waiting on the second! Blah!

For what it's worth I know that DTS is just finishing the encoding on a certain Russell Crowe movie. Rumor has it Novemberish release date by the studio...

I wish all DVD's were mastered by New Line Platinum Series. Such a beautiful picture and sound.

Fight Club is the best DVD I've yet purchased. It has days worth of extras on it's two discs. This DVD was produced by people who care.

In addition to all of those great discs mentioned above, I'd have to recommend Sleepy Hollow for its incredible picture and beautiful artwork. The DD mix in this movie is very immersive, yet not as flagrant as your typical action movie.

I have to agree, Sleepy Hollow was very well done!

It's not out yet but it appears that when T2: Ultimate Edition is released (September?) it will be quite a disc to behold.

There are so many extras on this disc I hope they remember to include the film!

Are we talking best DVD on the basis of the movie. or best as a demo piece, becuase of combined video and audio quality?

In display quality, Luc Besson's newest one, "The Messenger", is certainly up there. And it's an interesting take on the Joan of Arc story.

But, overall I'm not quite as keen about recent new releases as some of my favorites last year. But, I haven't watched ID4 yet; I expect that's pretty good from a demo quality point. One of my favorites so far is the "Uncut" version of "Leon: The Professional", which was just released , but of course, technically, isn't a new movie.
