    Pinch Me...

    I must have dreamed this....

Last night my girl walks in the house and says she has been giving a lot of thought to our upcoming marriage and has decided that she does not want to do the big wedding.

    Ok with me.

Instead, she wants to get married in April at the Stephen Foster park in White Springs, Fl.

Her plan is to have everyone at the ceremony, then instead of a reception, we buy everyone tickets to the Wanee Music Festival (The Allman Brothers personal festival) and go party there for two days.

Ok with me is an understatement.

Who are you and what have you done with my girlfriend, I want to ask.

Never mind about what you did with her, will you stay here, with me forever, you fabulous new woman who has great ideas about weddings? I want to plead.

Y'all think this is a crazy idea? I've never been involved in the planning of a wedding before but this can't be too difficult to arrange, right?

Hahahaha, what a deal! You da man TF!!!

Seriously though, I've been married ten yrs this past sunday. And from what I've learned, just do what they want. :B My wife didn't want to do anything "special" for our anniversary. Our church was having a cookout and she just wanted to have the family together at that function. They day went off without a hitch and all had a great time.

It sounds to me like your other half has her finger on what will make the two of you happy. And if that is the case, how can you not go with it.

    Good luck, congrats, and enjoy!!!

      Sounds like a deal, Eric!

Hey, congrats, John! Our 10 year anniversary was 30 May too! And Kevin P's 10 year was a few weeks ago.

        Thank you sir!

I was unaware that yours and Kevin's were so close. Congrats to you guys as well. I hope you both enjoyed them as much as I did mine.

            Hi Eric,

If your fiancée and your guests would enjoy spending two days at a music festival then I think it's a fantastic idea. My wife really enjoyed the music festival that we went to in Australia a couple of months ago. The other five couples who went with us really enjoyed it too. Our group had four fabulous days of partying together.

However I know that for some of my other friends spending two days at a music festival would be sheer hell. For them music is something that plays quietly in the background while they're socialising or eating. We deliberately didn't invite any of those people to Australia because they would have been an anchor. Great people but wrong venue.

Your circle of friends is probably completely different to mine so don't even think about changing your mind!

            Nigel.

Well, that is most likely true... None of them know anything about Rugby, and none of them share our addiction to concert DVDs. Most of my friends only think of fruit when they hear the word Kiwi, they wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton (let alone dream of a day when every major political office in the country would be held by a woman.) They would not be able to tell you that New Zealand consists of 2 main islands, not just the one, and is not actually populated by hobbits.

What you said about how some people would not like a festival is true and I definitely considered that but the great thing about Wanne is that it is a very large chunk of land with a small crowd. There are huge areas to be in where the music is not loud enough to stop a conversation and groups can set up shop.

I hope it works. Anyone who wants to come to the reception, just buy yourself a ticket!

That sounds perfect. The festival that I attended was on a small chunk of land with a large crowd. Quite different to Wanee.

April 13th & 14th 2008 in Live Oak, Florida eh? A fantasy for me sadly, but a lovely one.

Last Friday my wife gave me a music DVD to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was “Muddy Waters Classic Concerts”. The DVD contains 3 Muddy Waters concerts – Newport Jazz Festival 1960, Copenhagen (Denmark) Jazz Festival 1968, and Molde (Norway) Jazz Festival 1977.

                    The concerts...

Over Easter six of us headed off to Australia for the 19th Byron Bay East Coast Blues & Roots Music Festival. I went last year too.

Byron Bay is a beautiful little town with a lovely beach and plenty of good restaurants and bars which we made good use of when not attending the festival....

What a pleasant surprise! This warm, funny, sometimes-a-bit-too-close-to-home film has come out of nowhere to gross over $230 million dollars in the U.S. alone. What did it cost to make? $15-20 million? Nope, try

This is a film by Jennifer Jason Leigh and Alan Cuming. Are these two married or what ?
It all takes place in the Cuming/Leigh character's home during their 6th anniversary. It's pretty slow and unfolds like a stage play, but there is some excellent acting here, and it's probably a fairly accurate...
