Come on Bam, I'm thinking so hard trying to figure this out that I'm constipated. Out with it.

The room looks real nice though. Are those sound absorbers behind the speakers?

Then, they're intended to be arrayed like that? Is there some sort of crossover controlling the whole thing or is the same signal sent to each one? Anyway, I still think it looks cool

each one is a complete speaker -just like a regular box speaker-just with individual enclosures for each woofer

a sphere is theoretically the best enclosure shape for minimizing diffraction effects-I wonder how much of a difference it really makes?

Lex probably remembers that I actually used to own four of those, plus a single ball that I used for a center channel. Mine were covered though, you can get a grill cloth "sock" that slips over the whole thing.
Horrible speaker for music but, great for HT in that there is a very wide sweet spot and incredible bass. In fact, if I ever got into HT again I wouldn't be opposed to using them again, as long as there was a seperate 2 channel system.

Those are Anthony Gallo Nucleus Solos, but only the pair that are 2nd from the top of each tower is the complete original. The others (bottom two and top spheres) look like the CDTs have been removed, with only the mounts remaining. No XO and aluminum spheres have been spun on a lathe to carve out the outside shape and the inside cavity. Good for low 30s for the Solos. I'm guessing down to 24Hz for the octo-balls.

I've never demo'ed a set, too rare and discovered them only after they went out of production. Check the historical section of www.roundsound.com for more details.

                                              ensen.

EDIT: The Nucleus Reference were double balls under a cylindrical tweeter and were spec'ed for upper 20's. The Solos were mono-balls.
