I LOVE that idea, though it's sad that it is necessary to do it.

I still listen mostly to music from the 80s, not only because it's better music than today's, but it's better mastered too (before the loudness wars and compressed-into-oblivion crap).

You might want to consider using one of those smilely face 'wink' icons.
Some one could misconstrue your post as being serious :W

Ah, while I might agree about the 70's, (unless you're a fan of disco) I for one am a big fan of the 80's music we grew up with!

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I proudly support this movement and all the good that can only come of it!!!

Today's music sounds like pure crap (not the music itself... the mastering and brick walling). Pretty sad when all the music of today sounds like I'm listening to it through Bose.....

I WANT CONTROL BACK OF MY VOLUME KNOB!!!! ha ha.

It is not about what music you listen to.
It is about all music made today.
Our precious systems and their ability to reproduce the nuance of well recorded music are useless when fed a diet of this brick-walled trash.

I never let the facts get in the way of a good photo!

... and to be fair they did operate up to about 1985, albeit not as magnificently as in the late 70s.

He is probably just going thru marmite withdrawal. :W

Bill, I'm actually a Vegemite fan, not Marmite, which tastes like rendered down animals to me.

By the way I must make it clear that I can't stand the music of Village People. One of my biggest fears in life is finding myself at an evening function and being asked to dance to YMCA.

I banned all such nonsense at my wedding (told the DJ that if he played ANY music from the list of banned songs I gave him--no matter how much anyone begged--he would forfeit the other half of the fee for the event. The list of banned songs was in the contract, at my insistence.).

Not specifically, no. Rather 8 servings of marmite than 5 minutes of either the Village People or Celine Dion (who was also banned from the playlist--tough to manage in Quebec).

Yikes! I wonder if the human immune system could even survive 8 servings of marmite.

Good call on the music, sort of like The wife and I having a jazz band with no Polka music or playing of the 'Hokey Pokey' at our wedding here in Western Pa.

No line dancing of any kind was allowed. No Celine (number one on the ban list). No Village People. In fact, when I was asked for suggestions by the DJ, I submitted a list of 300 songs from which to choose. I wasn't in charge of much for the wedding (what husband ever is ) but I was in charge of music. That was non-negotiable.
