I have been seeing this CDP pop up a lot online and it gets rave reviews claiming it sounds better then some 9k dollar CDP's and its around 1000. Has anyone had any experience with this thing? I was thinking about looking for a used one to check out.

I bought a (used) CDP-300 a while ago (and I absolutely love it!). The CDP-300 (and I believe all Classe CDP players) uses a TEAC DV-28SL-R93 slot load drive.
Now, there is nothing wrong with my CDP but I just wanted to have a back-up drive if/when my CDP drive ever fails. A quick... -

I've noticed that if I power on my CDP 300 from standby position without having a CD/DVD inside, it takes longer to initiate. Has anyone experienced the same?

From the CDP-202 manual it says it has a volume control, has anyone done tests with the CDP-202 directly connected to the amplifier?
No requirement for other sources.

I am looking at the AhTojeb4000 or the Music Hall cd25, both modified. I have the M&K 750select system, which some say may be slightly bright. Has anyone listend to both cdp? Price is a issue, I am sure there is some much nicer players, but I need to keep it under 1000.
