    Marantz SA-7S1

I am a new owner of this player, and am wondering if anyone has any experience with the filters and noise shaper?

    Thanks!

I own the SA-11S2 which has the same filters. Each filter gives a slightly different sonic presentation. Use whichever sounds most pleasing to your ears. I use filter #1 and noise shaper off for all of my listening. Feedback from other SA-7 and SA-11 owners indicates that filter #1 is most popular. There are many Marantz Reference owners over at Audio Asylum. If you do a search of the Hi-Rez forum there, you will find a lot of discussion on these two players.

Active Cauer-Elliptic filter design in 20 minutes
      by BobEllis
In a couple of threads recently there has been some discussion as to how to create an active analog Cauer-Elliptic filter. I've made some up in a simulator and thought I'd share my results.

I haven’t got a clue how to run through the math to determine component values. Lancaster’s Active...

Ultrasonic Tweeter Filters - for peace of mind only?
      by Reet
Over the years, and recently I've observed several occasions where designers are targeting the ultrasonic breakup mode of a hard dome tweeter with a notch filter. In each case I have not observed any objective measurements that show a noticeable improvement to the tweeter's performance at audible frequencies,...

Exploring Common DIY Terminology - Bandpass (Crossover Filter)

      Bandpass (Crossover Filter)

A bandpass filter refers to an electronic circuit or signal processing technique used to limit the frequency range of an audio signal that is sent to a specific driver or set of drivers within a loudspeaker system. It is employed to ensure that each driver operates within its intended frequency range and to achieve a desired frequency response for the overall system. For the DIYer, a bandpass crossover filter would typically be seen in a 3-way loudspeaker...

      lens filter on pj?
      by Jurgen
      Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have experimented with lens filters. When I had my Panasonic PTAE 100, I was a bit disappointed by the screen door effect and the poor depth of field. Then one day while I was watching Harry potter with my brother, he put up his sunglasses. At first...

      Another designer using Cauer filters
      by Dennis H
Edit: well dang, Shawn must have gotten in touch with Al. I see he posted to another thread and introduced himself. I'll leave this one up anyway. Maybe we can get a "guru chat" going.

Hey Jon, do you know a guy named Al Klappenberger? The Joseph filters came up on another...
