    CA-5200 IR input?

Besides having CAN bus and DC triggers my CA-5200 also has IR input and output. I've always used CAN bus with my SSP-600 but I recently acquired a Sony TA-E9000ES preamp. The SSP is wired balanced while the Sony will be single ended to the amp. I've disconnected the CAN bus because I do not want the SSP on while I'm using the Sony and vice versa.

So, what is the deal with this IR input/output on the back of the CA-5200? If I understand it right, I hook up the proper equipment to the IR input and I can trigger the amp on or off. The owners manual is cryptic about the IR codes though. Where do I find the proper code to trigger the amp on/off?

Hopefully there is a format in there that you can use.

      Thanks for the link!

I see what is going on here and it looks to be more involved than I thought it would be.

Guess I'll just have to bend over and hit the power button manually!

The signal should be the same as the power on signal on your ssp. However if you want to connect both your ssp and the Sony at the same time and getting the amp to switch between single ended and balanced then I don’t think that is possible or even advisible. If it is only the Sony then why not using the trigger input on your amp and pretty sure there is one on the Sony as well.
