    Classe 2300 Vs 5300

I want to integrate my Home Cinema and HiFi.

    I currently own a CP800, CA2300 and B&W 802 Diamonds.

I am going to add a processor, run the CP800 in HT Bypass and either but a 3 channel power amp to do the centre and rears or sell the CA2300 and buy a CA5300.

Centre channel is an HTM2 Diamond which I have already bought.

Has anyone compared the CA2300 with the CA5300 ?

I don't want to lose any quality on 2 channel audio.

    Thanks Tom

They should sound the same, but a dedicated two channel amp will arguably always trump a multi-channel one for stereo. Its too bad Classé don't have a 3 channel design anymore.

Hello, don't mean to hijack the thread.

What would people suggest is best, a CA3200, and a seperate CA2200 or multichannel 5300? Going to be upgrading my Arcam P7 at some point! But going for the five channel one seems like a cheaper option?

Having not heard either, it is my impression that the new series is better, so i would go with a 5300. Give them a listen though

I think either would be highly satisfactory. I tried the CA5300 however and it did not sound as good in 2 Channel operation as my CA2300 with my CP800 and 802 Diamonds. It's such a shame they no longer make a current model 3 channel power amplifier.
As you know, there is a 3 channel previous version kicking around on some UK Forums for sale.
But... do you really need such a big amp for your 805's and HTM3S ?
Why not try and find a CA2200 and match it up with something cheaper, in the short term, for the other 3 channels?
A CA2200 will be comparatively easy to find second hand in the UK. I sold mine for around £2000 a couple of years ago when I upgraded to a CA2300 and it was in mint condition. You could get a Rotel 1565 that is 100WPC x 5 into 8 Ohms and 200WPC x 5 into 4 Ohms, so it is fairly muscular and just use 3 channels of it. Not sure what the match would be like with the centre and fronts having a different brand for amplification but it might allow you to save up for a CA5300 which would work great with your 804's.
I actually tried an Arcam P7 a few years ago and wasn't a huge fan.

I agree with Tom. I use a 2200 for the front pair, and 3 channels of a 5100 for the center and surrounds. My living room is 6x4 meters, and the power by no means lacking. With this setup when I listen to stereo, the 5100 is turned off.
