    Can SSP-800 Smooth Clipping?

My son and I watched Tron Legacy on Blu-ray last week. Great movie. Great audio, except it was mixed very hot and the audio clipped a lot during intense sequences.

Can Classe reprogram the SSP-800 DSPs to detect clipping and smooth it out?

Yeah, this should never happen with Blu-ray audio. I hope this isn't a trend, much like today's crap popular music recordings.

Usually a soft clip would be done in the Amp unless you are actually clipping your analog output on the pre/pro..
    Main System:
    B&W 801D
    Emotiva USP-1 Pre-Amp
    Chord SPM-650 Stereo Amp
    Oppo BDP-105
    Squeezebox Touch

    Second System:
    B&W CM7
    Emotiva UMC-1
    Emotiva UPA-2
    Oppo BDP-83SE
    Grant Fidelity DAC-09

      Clipping Source

In this case (Tron Legacy), the clipping in in the digital domain from the original source material. The waveforms are essentially chopped off.

I heard this is an issue with that disc specifically...

I am not sure that s correct. I mean it cannot be. You cannot load above 0db on a digital medium so there should be no clipping. It must be the player or amp that does the clipping. Now it can be a recording of a distorted signal but then that it by intent and should not create clipping in it self unless the player or amp cannot handle it.
Have played Tron many times and have never had any issues with it. Try to play the same scenes with lower volume. That will determin were the fault is.
