    What Pre-Amp for CA-2200

    Hello friends!

My dealer made me an offer that I couldn't refuse! So I got my self a CA-2200 to drive my 804s. Right now I'm using a CAP-2100 as pre-amp but planning to get a CP-500 or CP-700 on the used market, only that this pre-amps are difficuld to get here where I live.

In case I can't get the Classe pre-amps what other pre-amps do you think it would work well with the CA-2200?

Any opinions will be most appreciated

    Thanks :T

What is your budget and are we talking new or used?
Also what functionality are you looking for? Any requirements on number of balanced inputs.. Etc.

Sorry for my late reply! Work got in the way, so no time to play

        @ beden 1

Yes I've seen that you have your CP-500 for sale but unfortunatly I'm in Finland and somebody decided that in europe and in north america will have different voltage :M

        Thanks anyway :T

        @ aarsoe

For new about 4000 to 4500€ For used up to 3000€

True fully balanced, 1 balanced input, 1 balanced output, a couple of unbalanced input would do just fine.

        Thanks :T

Cp 500 is natural partner for CA 2200
Maybe CP 700 can be obtained for a little more

both items already removed from Classe website ....

the cp500 give you the same sound of the cap2100.

the pre side of the cap2100 is the same of the cp500. save our money.

Or you go with the cp700 (that can be compared at the ssp800 ca.) or the cp800 will be top of the line.....(if stereo - 2 chanel - is your target)

              Hi gerardhn!

Yes I agree, but my question is if there is other pre-amps that would work well with CA-2200? (in case I can't get my hands on a Classe pre-amp)

              Thanks :T

                Hi style!

Thanks for your input :T I find the pre outs of the cap2100 not so good, in fact I like the sound better feeding the cdp102 direct via XLR to ca2200, but it lacks body and punch, good detail and stereo image though, but I know that a good pre-amp will give me better sound.

Cp-800 maybe we will see how good it really is, we've been waitting for it for too long, in fact IMHO Classe should have continued with cp500 and cp700 for a little longer since the cp800 seem to be delayed.

Any suggestions for a different brand pre-amps?

                Thanks :T

Too many brands out there. Your wallet and local availability will be bigger factors than a million suggestions. Suggest you look at what is available and then come back

Problem is that I simply don't know what is available to you in New Zeeland - and what the local cost is. Except for maybe Plinius.
Look at all the Americans on the forum that gets Classe at 50-60% of what most of us pay in Europe. How much more do you pay?

Seems to me that you are asking us to do your research. Sorry mate, but that is half the fun and your job. Not going to spend hours going through all the websites to come up with a list.

I don't want you to do any research for me. You said you didn't know what's available in New Zealand. I was pointing out that it's very easy to find out what's available in New Zealand by doing a Google search.

This forum is comprised primarily of members asking advice from others or offering advice to others. If everyone did their own research then there wouldn't be much point having this forum would there?
