I just got a pre-owned SSP-600. It has a firmware dated from 2004. I dont have a pc to upgrade but I do have a mac, running Win XP on it. My question is that can I get a USB to Serial adapter for the firmware upgrade, while running XP on my mac? Any additional advice on upgrading the firmware would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I did an update of my ssp-300 with the mac running vista (vmware fusion).
I have an usb to serial adapter. you can choose what port it would be so i choose com2
Don't remember the cable layout, but i worked with a breakout box and it was either strait (modem cable) or crossed (null modem cable).
was very easy once connected. the installation manual on the classe site was very clear.

It's a straight through cable, not a crossover cable.
