    Classé CAP-2100 with 110/220V

    Hi.

The manual of the Classé CAP-2100 states that the CAP-2100 comes pre-configured for the correct voltage of the country where you buy it.

Does anybody know here whether it is possible to switch the voltage say from 110V to European 230V? Can that be done at a normal shop and if yes for what price?

    Thanks

So, quote myself - it can be done, but Classé itself permits it earliest 6 months after purchase. Probably protecting the insane prices in Europe and their dealers.

In the legacy models, voltage change from 120V to 240V or vice versa involves moving the position of soldered-in jumpers that configure the wiring of the main and auxiliary transformer primaries. I can't imagine current models being too much different. All Classé amps also have a varistor wired across HOT and NEUTRAL that needs to be substituted with one rated for operation on the particular line voltage. The procedure requires a service manual for the amp that includes a diagram of the jumper settings for that model, and depending on where the jumpers and varistor are located, disassembly steps. This is not something you will want to do yourself for a unit under warranty without voiding it.
