Lifespan of Electronics

Hey guys:

Was wondering if Classe electronics would sound "the same" and "just as good" as day one (after break in) after being used for 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years... Same question for high end speakers.

Actually the capacitors are very intelligent devices. They start to break down slowly as your bank account recharges; so by the the time their at end of their expect life span, you bank account is fully recharged ready to "fix" the problem.

All kidding aside, the capacitors do die over a period of time (years) in Classe's gear probably in the order of 10 to 15; and the nice thing is you can have them replaced. Speakers, though no.

The cool operation, soft-start and conservative design of Classé amps should certainly help with longevity. Bias and DC offset will drift a little bit over time but are easily adjusted back to spec. Last year I re-capped a 1975 SAE amp. Up until the overhaul it worked and sounded just fine with its 31-year-old caps.
