HedgeHog; beautiful setup, I am considering the silent racks for my MC 1201 mono's and am concerned about the amp weight. I want to be sure because I am only moving them once if I can help it....lolol. What are they rated for, and is there a dealer in Calgary or Edmonton ?? Any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks- Bottom

Thx Gross30,
According to their website, the Rack of Silence support shelves can handle 176lbs/80kg. If you went for the Reference series, the suspended shelf can hold 88lbs/40kg. I put the amp on the unsuspended shelf. FWIW, the CA5200 is about 130lbs. (http://www.solid-tech.net/ros.htm#4)
As for dealers in Alberta, Premier Audio in Edmonton carries Classe/BW/Solid Tech. However, I had a hell of a time trying to get them to give a damn when I was planning to order. Apparently, a full B&W/Classe system is not worth their effort.
Cheers,
Hedge

Thanks Hedgehog, the 1201's come in around 160 lbs, 185lbs packaged, and I don't want any sag at all. Very particular on that....lololol. Aren't audiophiles strange....lolol. Anyway, hopefully Premier will shed some light on the racks. Thanks again- Bottom

Just got an SSP-800 to mate up with some vintage Classe amps.
The amp rack was inspired by our friend Ryst's unit.
L/R are powered by the CA-201. C and Surrounds by the CAV-150.
The cabinet also holds the BDP-83 disc player, a Sony CDP-X55 CD player, and the JBL BassQ processor. My rather unusual implementation of it is described elsewhere. The complete theater is detailed here.

wettuo,
I like the Focal too, and with the notice of the new price of the B&W serie 800 year 2010 (available from the second trimestrefrom next year) I have cconsidered the Focal as alternative.
with my surprise a lot of people have me write that the Focal is very "low" speakers 8O and the Utopia diablo have the sama price from a 803D (without ca. $.1900 for the stand!!)
on you tube Focal is sponserised like the best in the world or so like that but wow, the consumers say me "are you crazy to change a 803D with a Diable or bigger....
what do you mean?

I agree with you -> Over, overpririced!!!
I have see on youtube a video from a presentation from the Utopia...a lot of people very impressed from the sound quality...(in Paris i think)
and in the *lfbi forum the members say my that is a very catastrophic after listen Utopia in the last 3 version/evolution.
I have listen the Diablo with a passlabs int150 and the room, the isolation, the "all" but I find not so bad...(sure like wrote expensive bad not a catastrophe
Well before change the great B&W802 with a Scala/Maestro(bigger is too much money)
I will be sure from one so big investiment!

Thanks Wettou and AK77. I am running a pair of B&W 805S. I absolutely love the sound of the Classe/B&W combo. At the moment I am saving up for a pair of really good interconnects. Right now I am using a pair of Audioquest Pythons. This cable was one of their reference cables back in the day. I must say that they do suit my setup very nicely. Hopefully, I will be picking up a pair of Chord Indigo XLR in six months time. That should also give me some time to try different cables as well. What type of cables do you guys use with your Classe kit?- Bottom

Hi AK77. Did you audition the CDP 202 when you decided on the CDP 102?
I never had the chance to hear the 202 due to the fact that it did not exist when I purchased my 102. I've always wondered if it would be worth the difference in price.- Bottom

No I didnt listen to CDP-202 before buying CDP-102. I did audtion other CD players in the same price range like Moon, Denon etc. For sound and aesthetics, I finally settled on CDP-102. With the kit that I have CDP-202 would have been an overkill I guess.
However I have started preparing and hinting my wife about an upgrade. Have my eyes on CDP-202, CP700, CA-2200 and B&W 802D. one day.... :W
Regarding the interconnects. I have Chord Super Epic twin for speakers and Chord Anthem 2 RCA-RCA between cd player and amp. I initially had Merlin Choppin, then upgraded to Cyrus balanced XLR interconnects and have recently uopgraded to Chord Anthem 2. It has been very well worth it. cost me about £300 for a meter but highly recommended. Absolutely chuffed with it. :T
Cheers
