    Quite agreed...

That is a nice deal! And those are good sounding amps, very musical, clean up and down the scale- the XD mode offset biasing thing seems to work quite well. Makes the output stage work in single ended class A up to modest levels. Well enough that I shelled out for a pair of it's current successor, the Cambridge Edge W earlier this year...

I have an 840W as my "permanent" speaker test amplifier....

The 840W is discussed in this thread:

One of the challenges of this hobby is that the advances in technology and the focus on this aspect can create motivations and actions which may have only a secondary basis in the enjoyment of music- such as the appeal of technology for it's own sake or because of similarities to past encounters... Today's example is the

There's some pretty high tech hidden in these guys, including bus bar systems to reduce inductance and distortion in the high current output stage...

I haven't really had a nice set of speakers yet to try out the Edge W with, and I've been too busy to bench them, and will probably truck the AP analyzer and associated gear along with a bunch of other stuff up to Idaho the first weekend in June, as long as the opening up schedule proceeds as planned.

Boy, just when you think you have things figured out for what you're going to do in a given year, along comes the Spanish Inquisition, or the Zombie Apocalypse, or COVID-19!

I'd be working on speakers this weekend, but a time dependent window of opportunity to finish up some design work at work before a beta software license expires means I'm working every day until May 28- no Memorial Day weekend for me.

    Soon though...
