    Which testing gear (measurement) ???

    Hi everyone,

i want to start taking my own measurement and after reading a couple of thread around here i got a question or two. To be honest, it's more about what you would suggest as an ideal "initial - DIYer" setup. I can't set my mind...

DIY (Do it yourself): Cabinetry, speakers, subwoofers, crossovers, measurements. Jon and Thomas have probably designed and built as many speakers as any non-professionals. Who are we kidding? They are pros, they just don't do it for a living. This has got to be one of the most advanced places on the net to talk speaker building, period.

Those are the options i'm considering

    1. ECM8000, MOBILEPRE USB
    2. ECM8000, A good sound card (Audigy maybe), a Mixer (UB-502 or UB-802).

Note1 : I plan on using LspCAD for design and justLMS for measurement (an maybe something else later).

Note2 : I just bought a WT3 so T/S and impendance will be taken with it. I don't know if it can do a difference in the process of selecting a setup ...

    Thanks.

    Either option works fine.

I have both, neither offers a significant advantage.

Note that you don't want the UB-502 since it lacks phantom power

      Thanks for the reply,

i think i gonna go with MobilePRE & ECM8000 solution since it will cost less that way.

      Thanks.

That's the most 'portable' and least hassle way to go..

I got good results with ECM8000 and UB 802 (with phantom supply for mic) and JustMLS

ThomasW : That's what i thought. And you can use it with both a Laptop and normal/standard computeur which is not the case with a normal soundcard.

Nemophyle : I didn't think someone would recognize it!

TacoD : It's fun to know that there are some people around here who use JustLMS for measurement.

              Thanks everyone!

I wasn't going to bring up, but since someone else has, I absolutely love that game! Ohhhhhh the memories...

BTW, I'll probably be going with the same setup once I get a few pay checks under my belt.
