    Thomas/Jon ASW-15 question

    O' venerable klone warriors.

Do you happen to recall net cabinet internal volume and port length and diameter of the stryke HE15 ported sub you built?

    Tanks.

    Hi Brandon,

    Click here;
Well those 2 guys at Klone-Audio (http://www.klone-audio.com)have been up to their old tricks. This time it's a variation on a theme. Take the box design from Aerial Acoustics SW-12....... Then apply that to the Stryke HE-15 woofer and what do you have? The AS-15 :) Full info is available HERE (http://home.att

          Hey David,

This is probably an oblique reference to some posters who DO seem to need 115 dB plus, and sometimes get a bit contentious about it...

You could also build this in a sonotube design as I did & save about
            200#'s. :E

Not trying to steal anybodies thunder, the idea & design specs came
            from........guess who?

            Thomas....of course..... :B

              Cam,

Given the color issues with the picture in your RPTV I suggest moving the tubesub so the magnet doesn't permanently screw up the CRTs

I was just pondering. I have this bizarre triangular obelisk 6' tall tower sub thing that uses 2 HE15's and 6 passive radiators, and was wondering if I could convert it to ported, but don't have the volume.

Don't want to grow this into the necessary sized cylinder though, as it would mean abandoning the steel, aluminum and wood cabinet I have put a lot of money and time into.

I dont know if you are refering to the vertical lines on the far left of the screen, that is glare from the back door at this time of day.

Maybe it's just the photo. But to my eyes there's a purple/blue tint on the left side of the screen.

You are right, I see it as well, but I think its just the photo.

Anyways I have moved the little surround speaker that was
in front of the Tempest & put the tube there for now as I
am still trying to figure out what to do with my Tempest
                      enclosure now..

Dumb question, but if you built a two driver version, double cabinet volume, the port gets twice as long or two ports the same length, right? Not half the length.

The port scales in relation to the cabinet volume- for a given tuning- so if you double the volume, for the same diameter, the port length reduces.

BUT, with two driver's, you'll want more port area- so you wind up back with the same length if you go with dual ports.

From a construction and mobility viewpoint, I'd think making two cabinets might be wiser... a single cabinet with two HE-15 ported would be a REAL MONSTER!

Sort of the "DeathStar" of ported subs, huh?

Discourages the burglars. And it would actually end up being sort of an Obelisk of Bass.

I think I am going to do this, just have to figure out how to extend the existing frame to support the 2 extra cubic feet of volume I need over the original PR design. I think the ports are going to have to go external.

                            Thanks!
