    My Flexi Rack

Tried a "nicer" version of the standard Flexi design. Used solid Cherry, polished stainless hardware, and nice quality laminate. Total cost about $250, as $120 was for hardware alone!

Beautiful Russ! I like the router'd edge - a very nice touch.

Oh BTW, welcome to The Guide. :welcome:

Actually what you see here is basically naked cherry, no stain!! I finished it with a mix of pure tung oil and mineral spirits (rubbed in, several coats over a few days). Then gradually added some poly to the mix to get a little "build" of the finish (several more coats over days!). The tung really deepens the color and "pops" the grain. Cherry will also naturally darken over time. Almost all the wood I used is also from the heartwood which is darker to start with. Some lighter sapwood is visible on one of the lighter corner blocks, left side. remember also to use only PURE Tung oil from a woodworking house, not the cheap tung mixes you see at regular stores. They have metallic additives, etc., to make them dry faster and some don't even contain Tung at all!

Ahhh... a devotee of oil finish! Very nice indeed. If your wife will not accept them, just put 'em up for auction here.

Here's some pics before assembly showing a little more of the wood grain.

YES!! I LOVE woodgrain! Did I ever tell you guys that GOD intended speaker cabinets to built (okay, veneered) out of nature's exotic, beautiful, wood? Injection molded plastic cabinets are Satan's spawn. Put your hand on the radio! Send me what you can! Cash, check, or money order! Send your donation to the First Church of the Gooey Death, c/o radio station XERF, Del Rio, Texas! Say Halleleujah! Say AMEN!! :B :B

Okay, does anyone remember Don Imus? Later, Wolfman Jack?

Mods: prepare yourselves. You will NEVER get such an OFF-TOPIC POST. Prepare yourselves!

Don't know if you like the anti-Don Imus --> Howard Stern?

If you do, he's back (on Austin airwaves). When 98.9FM went from FM Talk Radio to Tejano music (3 years or so ago?). Well, 104.3FM switched from Urban to FM Talk Radio. 6AM-11AM features Howard Stern.

                        Sorry for the off-topic slide.
