My first sub project is going to be a Tempest

i am using the plans from their web site.

just 2 questions before i order

1) where would i cut the hole for the amp?
2) and what size amp will power it

Most people put them on back of the sub cabinet.

2) and what size amp will power it

Something in the 300+ watt range would be nice.

You can cut the hole into the side of the box, that's what I did. Also, I have the 250w plate amp from parts express and it's more than enough power for the tempest.

I made my cabinet from concrete pillar form tubing "Sonotube", and built a box for my plate amp, then attached the box to the sonotube with screws from inside the tube into the box edges:

Sonotube, by nature of its circular geometry, is quite strong. That's why water towers are cylinders instead of boxes
