Picture of compleated Tweeter Faceplate Vifa XT

Here is a picture of the Oak tweeter faceplate I turned on a lathe, it took some modifying to get the sound right. The throat was originally too deep and made the Vifa XT even more directional then it already is so I took a little off the back to shallow out the wave-guide like throat, this seemed to do the trick, sounds just as good as it did with the stock faceplate, and the slightly smaller diameter allows the upper and lower cabinets to tilt a bit more thus getting the driver spacing a bit closer, this has also made a difference, plus I lowered my X-point to 2400. I also experimented with several symmetric and asymmetric first and forth order slopes, the first order slopes sounded pretty good, but for that live slam the forth order slopes sounded more live.

Pretty cool lookin'! I've done some custom plates, but only in aluminum- sometimes I just don't trust the mechanical strength of the pastic ones!

Got any measurements of the complted system? Inquiring minds are curious!

I've been working with Speaker Workshop but lately I can’t get a good cal, so now I struggling with Praxis evaluation and I can’t quite figure it out yet. Getting a decent cheep calibrated mic and a fixed reference is more difficult that I ever thought.

ALthough not calibrated, we've had good luck using the Behringer ECM8000 for $40 there's nothing I know of that's as good. It does need a pre-amp with phantom power. Also there are some generic correction curves availale for it.
