Hi folks
Just wanted to throw out some thoughts that I'm playing with.
If we look at the Wavecor Ardents we can also look at the more extreme designs, like jons concept speaker, the Isiris and the "Isiris II" build in progress.
It has also been discussed to add passive woofers to the Ardents.
Having all in one "package"'makes a lot of sence as it is practical and gives a relativly good waf factor.
But what if we made a system where one set of speakers handels everything down to somewhere around 100-500 hz. And then you have something else (bass tower, dipols ore something) that handles everything from there and down to around 10hz. You might have to use several bass system in combination to get that working ideally.
I think that if we design the system this way we might get have a "simple" set of high end speakers that can be placed at the ideal position and that is quite small.
In addition you can have a bass system that is designed to ensure good bass respons and can be located at a different places in the room, and possible at several locations.
Goals for such a system would be extremly well defined, clean bass, a good "punch feeling" in the chest (may cause it to be important to handle higher frequencies), beeing full range and have a lot of headroom. It should also ideally connect/interact with the room so that a minimum of EQ or room correction is needed.
As an example we can use a room like my own. It's close tom30m2. Lets say that in a room of 30m2 the system should quitemeffortlesd be able to output 115db down to 10hz8O.
Would this be a good idea?
Would such a system be able to deliver true high end results?
What type of bass systems would be good options?
What type of system would be good for the upper end? Could the same tweeter and mid-tone used for the Ardents work?
