    OWL monitor concept

A while ago I posted about combining a SEAS L12 and 2 Denovo Anarchy woofers or Wavecor SW182-04 woofers. Jon seemed interested in the smaller concept of the MINERVA. I have worked on a design concept for it although having no where near the experience of Jon and many others I'll still post my initial concept:

Instead of "cheaping out" I've included the C18EN001/M as the Coaxial. (Might be the C18EN002)
1 Exodus Anarchy Woofer -8ohm and 2- Seas SP-22R passive radiators for the LF.

It won't reach the mid 20's like the minerva but F3 models at 29 Hz.

The SP-22's run out of excursion at 32 Hz this can be fixed by using SW223BD01 PR'sClick image for larger version

They cost more but its only money right?

Jon's Minerva's were supposed to beat the TAD Compact Evolution 1's My idea for these is to be more compact than the TAD's and The KEF Reference 1's and to dig deeper than the KEF's.

attached are the prelim box design. I have 2 major concerns with this box layout. 1st the area between the mid enclosure and the top PR is narrower than I would prefer. and 2nd the volume for the mid enclosure is less then half of the minerva which means that the impedance peak gets shifted towards the crossover point.

This is the OWL concept next to the Minerva (Jon's Tablesaw version) a very basic drawing of Jon's design

I may add some bracing and increase the dimensions slightly.

Two thoughts for your two problems ...... don't tell Jon since it's not his favorite look, but ........ you could mount the PR's on the side of the cabinet. That way your getting the same pressure on each and second it would allow you to get more volume for the mid section.

I know that is exactly why I tried to squeeze them on the back panel. 1 seas sp26 would also work on 1 side.

Attach are simulated crossover from ergo's measurements and a trace of zaph's exodus measurements

I was thinking one per side.

Yeah that would work too Ill have to draw that up in sketchup though Jon may not approve of the aesthetics from an engineering perspective this solves the problem

No one needs Jon's approval to do anything! Let a thousand points of view bloom like flowers in the spring, and butterflies on the wing! :B

Jon knows I love to give a hard time As long as it will work "arc's & sparks" wise ...... what ever floats your boat. Follow his advise and make some sawdust!
