    Crossover component selection question

Hi all. Finishing up a small 2-way with 15cm woofer (Scan Disco) and 1" tweeter that I voiced active, and now translating to passive. Couple questions on components. Given the low power but high quality woofer, any reason to use Erse Super Q over the regular Erse laminated core inductors? Also, for the notch filter (shunt) on the tweeter, should I use air core or Erse laminated core? It's not in series with the tweeter, but still kind of leery using a solid core.

What does your schematic look like? what are the actual values?

My first preferences if values are in a reasonable range is air core, then the Erse Super Q for larger values.

I'll post a schematic when I get home tonight. Values are 2.0 for the woofer inductor and 1.3 for the shunt notch filter on the tweeter.

I may be dropping the tweeter notch by adding a resistor to the L5 inductor to lessen the roll off Q - which is right where the notch was targeted. If I do this the L5 gets much smaller too, so I could just use and air core. Not sure which way I'll go yet.

I was able to drop the notch filter on the tweeter by using a resistor on L5 to shape the Q of the roll off. This change also dropped L5 to about .7 mH, so I really don't need to consider cored inductors there - though any feedback for that specific usage would be appreciated for future projects.

Also decided to go with the Super Q's on the woofer.

            Good choices, IMO. :T
