With tweeters it's not necessarily about the extension of the tweeter, but more about the surface area, linear excursion, motor quality and alignment of the chamber. The SS tweeter has poor low end extension because of it's highish sensitivity coupled with a very low Q alignment and low fs. Sure, it rolls off relatively high up, but for a given SPL both tweeters will need to move the same amount of air, the difference between the two will be how much power they need to get there. Do bear in mind that once you go below fs the rate of excursion increases at a greater rate, thus the lower the fs, the lower the excursion.

Of course, if the early roll off of the SS prevents you from being able to hit a desired target slope then this can be a problem. For example it isn't ideally suited into trying out shallow slope, low frequency xovers. In this case something like the other SS tweeters, that are pretty much flat to 500Hz, would probably be a better option.

Having been measured by a number of people the D2608 is a known quantity. It has a very low distortion motor, low fs and a high amount of linear excursion. It is very difficult to do better. The only limiting factor is that it's not as extended, which could make xover design harder, or impossible, depending on your specific goals.

And it works great with a waveguide...

the download link will have to be updated, due to changes in ISP support. But the barebones thread highlights the critical capabilities with that tweeter in a waveguide. PM or email me if you'd like the complete project PDF. The MCM waveguide isn't available from them anymore, but a similar profile with much better construction quality (machined from solid bulk molding compound) is available from Jantzen. It was used in the Arvo Part Picante project.

I'm creating this thread just so I won't continue thread jacking other ones when related topics come up- The Arvo Pärt Picante is a very new project (about a couple weeks old!) which has been motivated/inspired by a number of diverse factors. thanks for the replies guys, you're very kind.
I will use seas er18rnx as woofer.
which tweeter would be fine in addition to the D9130 remaining in the same price range?
        eton25sd1
        27tffc seas or 27tdc/tdfc

        what are your suggestions?

regarding the project Modula MT XE Reference, I would like to know if the purple color chart is the commercial version of D9130, without waveguide, with flat feceplate

        thanks

Yes, the purple trace is the 9130 on baffle without waveguide.

            thank you very much jon,
may i ask you if you can give me the files (impedance and spl) of D9130 (without wavweguide) and ER18rnx to import them in my simulation software
            I would be very grateful

You can browse Zaph's website for measurements of various tweeters.

Both his blog and the tweeter mishmash are worth a look.

He even has a design based on the ER18 and one of the popular SEAS tweeters.

                  Then visit here.

One typically creates those files by measuring the drivers in their cabinets.

I asked Joe, who measured the drivers, if i could have the files to import in my software
let me wait for his response
