There's also the U18RNX/P that you could consider, but out of the ones that you've suggested I would pick the ER18RNX any day. The CA18 doesn't have any shorting rings so that strikes that one off the list imo. Out of the U18 or the ER18? Probably the ER18, it's a tad more efficient and doesn't have the resonance issue around 600Hz that the U18 does. What you screamin' for, every five minutes there's a bomb or something. The reference line from Dayton are another line of excellent bang for buck drivers and the HDS line from Peerless also pack a decent punch. I have used some both both lines and have been very happy with their performance. SB acoustics also produce some excellent mid priced stuff that measures excellently, but I haven't used any of those (yet). What you screamin' for, every five minutes there's a bomb or something. I usually buy my drivers used and at least here in Scandinavia you can get a nice pair of used Revelator 18W/4531 for just a little more than new ER18 for example so they would be my choice. Best low end of the 7" bunch and sweet mids, should be a nice match for your tweeters.- Bottom
