Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! 2013/2014 edition

As another crazy year draws to a close, I'd just like to wish all the DIY guys and gals AND all the lurkers a very Merry Christmas season and a wonderful New Year!

If your DIY dreams haven't quit come true this year, there's always 2014 to look forward to! My own experience is that many worthwhile projects become multi-year affairs, especially when we start on the final "Just one more tweak!" Phase. OTOH, there are builders here who are much more disciplined and productive than I, and have done some amazing builds this year. There examples are cherished and will be remembered.

    Bring on 2014! :W

          Hey Jon,

Merry Christmas (belated) to you as well. Hope you get a chance to have some free time in the coming year!!

Bitter sweet Christmas 2013 for me as my brother passed away this week from the brain cancer he was diagnosed with last February - really sad as he was only 47.

Positive side of this year was that my oldest daughter made it through her fist semester of Colorado School of Mines with a 4.0!!!

Looking forward to 2014....... have a backlog of woodworking, speaker, and musical projects lined up.

Hope everyone has a great year!

          Tom

Sorry to hear things didn't work out for your Brother- that is much too young! But a 4.0 at CSM is definitely worth cheering about! :T arty: ;b>

I understand the backlog feeling- these days, slow work takes a LOT of time! But this last year I've laid a good foundation for interesting things this next- including 8 new guitars and one bass to get more familiar with! And GF is even willing to hang a bunch of them (along with hers of course) in the music room... now if I can just figure out how to normalize my life style....

Best for the New Year to you, Tom!

My boss is working on that, on two fronts- backfill hiring (two interviews to do on Jan 14), and temporary housing in Cupertino. Someday I should show you my vendor badge at this company- there's a small part of me that will miss this when it's over, the rest, though, will be doing cartwheels!

Late to the party, but best wishes to all!

This will be a huge transformation year for me with completion of my atomic clock & "Duded Up" Natalie Portman projects.

May you all find improvements in every part of your life in the new year ahead.

                        What a start.

Light fluffy snow up past my shins, and more coming over the next 36hrs. Unsure if I should be going back in to work tomorrow or not.

Maybe this is the year to find happiness.

I'd say if it doubt, sit it out....

But for your last sentence, that should be your priority.

My GF is always deferring things, so now I frequently point out to her that this is the time to enjoy.... if not now, when? too many people from her life passed last year, including sister and ex husband. Carpe diem.

This morning she found an iPad App that felt a lot like Microsoft Project to her (familiar) which she used to use a lot, and dove into it head first, planning out some of the milestone projects and dependent tasks we need to accomplish to make them happen this year. It was fun to watch... once an IBM systems engineer, always an IBM systems engineer, I guess.... :W

I'll have to agree on your start. Second coldest December on record here and while taking a break from the Ardent build we were walking around in the exchange district, down town area looking for food and I got real cold fast. We ended up at my Son's fiancee restaurant where she tends bar and she made me a coffee with bourbon and other niceties to warm me up. It was so good I had another before we headed back to glue some more baffles up. I'm suppose to go back to work tomorrow too but I may show up on Monday cause I'm having too much fun.

                            Hope all a great 2014.
