    Subwoofer recommendations

I have a buddy who'd like to build a subwoofer and I've been out of the loop for quite a while in terms of what the good drivers out there are. Can I get some suggestions for a good driver to use? The possible project would probably be a simple box, sealed or ported, and could range anywhere from small and reasonable to total overkill.

I'll also add, it would serve a multiple-purpose use (both music and home theater, but with a leaning towards home theater).

The Dayton Ultimax seems to be the latest rage over at PE.

12" version of that works pretty well, too- personal experience. But if he's got room a 15, there's nothing that beats swept area. I tend to recommend sealed for transient definition and low overhang.
