Ribbons and Air Motion Transformers question

What is the difference between Ribbon Tweeters and Air Motion Transformer?
I don't mean construction but sound characteristics. Is one better than the other in some way?
Does the AMT have better dispersion? etc.

I don't have the answer you are looking for but I do have a reference for you. Look up Zaph audio. He has done tons of testing on many types of drivers including ribbons. He has objective data on performance of said drivers and will be an invaluable resource for you. http://www.zaphaudio.com

Dispersion is based on size in both cases. Smaller dimension = wider dispersion.

I've used ribbons, planars and AMTs extensively. To my ears, a good ribbon is more delicate, more transparent, but good AMTs and planars are a close second.
