Hi,
I've heard that ribbon tweeters have good horizontal dispersion but so-so vertical dispersion.
I plan to locate a Monacor RBT95 ribbon tweeter centrally in a loudspeaker cabinet, approximately 2" from the top of the 40" high loudspeaker box, which has a width of approx. 9.5" and which has 1" chamfers (or roundovers) on each vertical side of the face.
As the vertical dispersion of sound from above the tweeter doesn't seem particularly important for a person seated below the height of the tweeter, does it really matter if the top of the speaker box is not chamfered as any potential unwelcome diffraction effects are well above the listener's ears?
Would be happy to receive any advice.
Thank you.
