How to brace a box with the least amount of effort?

I am in the middle of designing a box in sketchup and I am wondering what would be the best way to brace it with the least amount of MDF and the least amount of cuts.

Would a bit of MDF with a big hole in it (like a internal ring) work well or does it need to be something like four holes near the corner with MDF going front to back and left to right?
How many bits of bracing do you need up the length of the box?

What about bracing in the corners only?
Would interlocking the sides of the box help?

Do you even need bracing? Is the box's movement even audible?

Has anyone ever done any tests?
