They are probably just presenting it as a cheaper option, something many makers are doing now with the price of neodymium skyrocketing. In any case, it's probably just as good a performer as the original neo model. Of course we don't know if it will swap in to the old one, you'll have to wait for someone to test one.

Like jkrutke said, it looks like they are adding the ceramic as a lower-cost alternative and are keeping the Neo as a premium option. They haven't clearanced the Neo model, so until then I doubt they'll get rid of it. They're probably just looking to draw in more sales by hitting a lower price point with nearly-identical performance. When PE put the Neo on sale a few months ago, they probably saw a enough of a surge in sales to justify building something that could be effective at a permanent lower price.

While numbers are only numbers, here are the differences in listed specs that the Ferrite model has in comparison to the Neo, which I'll add in parenthesis:
Freq. response down to 75 Hz (instead of 70 Hz)
          Re: 6.3 (6.8)
          SPL: 89 dB 1W/1m (87 dB 1W/1m)
Vas: 20 cu. ft. (17 cu. ft.)
          Qms: 2.04 (1.51)
          Qes: .40 (.49)
          Qts: .34 (.37)
          Xmas: 2.5 mm (3.0 mm)
          Driver depth: 3 1/4" (2 7/8")
