    Ceilings or floors ?

    Hi guys

Where is the best place to have the speakers fitted, in the ceiling or in the floors?

    Thanks

For what? Neither are really close to ideal (assuming flush mounted) but ceiling is probably preferred due to the lack of other obstructions (furniture, people...)

If you don't have to flush mount quality of the results can go up (see as an example the surrounds I use in my HT.) That too is probably easier ceiling mounting.

Oh, for crying out loud! Listen to CJD. In wall or on wall ... you want good sounds.

Heh. The in-ceiling surrounds sound *very* good. We listened to music with them sitting on the floor, tweeter firing up. But they're not flush-mounted.

Well, I'm sure you'll point him in the right direction. I've never done multi-channel home theater before. My stereo speakers are 3' from the back wall.

To be fair my surrounds are an odd blend of monopole and omnipole. And they have specific problems... you either build for on-axis or off-axis on the tweeter and get a nice null the other. And they're not traditional ceiling mount, more optimized for on boundary mounting with an uneven and inconsistent target listening area where you already give up solid imaging and the like. And they're not flush mount. Odd beasts but they give surprisingly balanced surround even though in my HT each end of the couch is directly below a surround.

I doubt they'd fit the bill here.
