It's my understanding that perspex (or acrylic) is much stiffer and stronger than MDF. So how thin could you get away with to make a very simple MT OB speaker. Bass would be handled elsewhere.

Hi Steve,
Don't use perspex. It will craze, discolour and crack over time.
A much better option is polycarbonate, tougher, stiffer and won't do the above.
Price wise here in oz its pretty much in line with toughened glass, much nicer to look at IMHO.
The other option is laminated glass, doesn't resonate as much.
As for thickness I'm not sure what size the baffle is but I wouldn't go with anything less than 12mm, (expensive =) )- Bottom

Thanks guys. It's only a couple of hundred to get the perspex baffles made and this is just for a bedroom system so I'll give it a bash and see if they work.- Bottom
