    threaded insert lenght vs screw length

    i have 3/4'' long screws but the longest threaded insert i could find are 1/2'' is this nomal practice

          An engineering rule of thumb: 4 to 5 threads engagement will give (nearly) maximum strength. Anymore is fine but no real help. It has to do with how the metal strains under load, only the initial threads carry the load.
