might better reinforce the floor joists if you fill them up, lol.

      Nice job.

Quite attractive, and I bet they'll do the job for you quite well. Much nicer looking than the one's Thomas and I cobbled up one afternoon for some measurement and listening tests...

I was thinking lead shot (not the whole tube full though)
and it's a concrete slab-the limit is my back pain tolerance

the tube was $20(still have 1/2 left) and there's probably 1/4 sheet of MDF there so...$20 total -sure beats even the cheapest ones I've seen-and I like mine better too

PLEASE don't use lead, there's no reason to have a pounds of toxic material in one's home....

Try steel shot or sand. Some folks use sandblasting media, it's usually a silica/quartz sold in 80-100lb bags

it can't hurt anyone when it's inside a speaker stand(there are no kids in my house)and I don't plan on eating any of it

I would consider steel shot instead-but I think the lead will be the heaviest and cheapest-I did consider BBs-they run about $1 per lb-lead shot is 25lb for $16
sand doesn't have the weight I want

What happens to it when you no longer need the stands ?

                  that's the $64,000 question

I've been thinking about using weights made for fitness use if I can find some with a 6" diameter to fit in the tube-hell I think I have some laying around somewhere-maybe those with some sand around them would be just as good

edit-here's a pic of my old speaker stands -they used to be all black but I've refinished them to kinda match the swans divas
