who builds and sells custom speaker cabinets?

I'm considering having someone build me set of 2 channel mains with center channel. I have some possible driver configurations drawn up, but would prefer professionally built and finished boxes.

Anyone know who I could contact about this? I'm in the Northeast...

    Thanks,
    Bill

Jim Salk, Rick Craig, and any local cabinet builder to you as long as you have detailed plans.

Nik Brewer on the PE site. He has a CNC in his garage and pricing is exceptionally low for the quality he delivers. He is even building one offs for Madisound and Pi now.

http://www.zalytron.com/ can build some great cabinets, but driver cutouts ONLY for the drivers he sells. (You don't have to buy the drivers). He is also in L.I

I've seen some of his work, he does a pretty nice job and uses 1"+ MDF IIRC.

I'm in Central PA. Would prefer to be able to drive there and check out some of the work personally or at least see good pics of capabilities?

Any other suggestions or experiences from you guys?

                    thanks for the help

I think most of the places posted have very good reputations and more then likely are going to guarantee their work.

Forum member Pete Mazz owns a cabinet shop in Bucks County. I haven't seen him around here lately but maybe you can find him in the phone book. His work is about as good as it gets.

Edit: found his forum profile. I don't know if the email address is still good but his sig link is still working. Judging from the address, his business name is most likely something like Bucks Woodworking.

You should never put white script on a black background unless the font is large. I think the idea is to have people easily read what you've written. (Just an opinion)

I searched my area for a cabinet maker that has a CNC. Worked for me.

You can always ping WayneW on this forum. He built the below cabinets for me. He is out of Nebraska.

He does great work with a very high attention to detail with prices that I believe are very fair, plus he is a great guy.

Someone suggested it up above, but I'll repeat it because many people have had luck with it in the past. Open up the phonebook and look for "cabinet maker". If they can make custom cabinets, they can make a speaker box. Some are willing to do it and have. I know KGvetern went this route, and the guy he found local charged him like $200/each - which seems very reasonable based on how long it takes me to build a box. Also, ask around your local woodworker's store like Woodcraft or Rockler. I've found help this way before, just a local woodworker who was willing to do me a favor.

If you can't do that, consider using projects from Madisound which have the boxes ready to go, such as the SR71. This design you can get the prefab box and baffle already cut. Or you can go with one of JonMarsh's Modula designs with a PE box and find someone to cut the baffle for you.
