    Cooking up something strange...

I'm currently waiting for Augerpros new BoseBuster v2, so I wanted to build something else in the meantime.

Cutting of MDF finished (a lot of panels...):

    Building started:

Can anyone guess what this is going to be?

Ok, its time to reveal this project. This will actually be a mulit-TV furniture. It will contain three MT-speakers, one Sub and space for HT-equipment (reciever, DVD-player, PS-III, Decoder, CD and DVD covers. All integrated in one furniture. Furthermore, it must be ease to move around in the livingroom (it will be stored in one place, but moved to a better location when used).

The idea of this is the consept is the Geneva HT, but with better looks and performance... ops:

              Design criteria
              • Integrated HT-speakers for left, right and center channel
              • Integrated subwoofer
              • Space for HT-components (reciewer, DVD-player, decoder....)
              • Space for some CD and DVDs
              • Easy to move around
              • Function as a solid stand for flat-scree TV
              • No wire-mess

              Components so far

So, what do you guys think? Do-able? Why not call it "Geneva Buster"?

A short update today. The internal system is finished. The build is so far farly easy, but I must take care and be very accurate. The MDF is cut exactly to my calculations, so there are really no room for small mistaks during gluing.

Anyway this is the right section. This will contain the right HT and cables for reciever, DVDplayer, TV (behind the speaker)

This is the middle and lefthandside section. The subwoofer is mounted on the backside.

                Backside of this section

Next up is gluing it all together. First up now is soldering XO.

I've been able to get some more work done on the ghetto-blaster during the holidays.

XO are now finished and ready to be installed:

The front of the system without doors:

                    Inside form top:

                    The sub will fire backwords

                    Backside:

Pictures taken while my wife was gone shopping... she is generally not a fan of using our livingroom furniture for displaying dusty woodwork

Yep, I agree, but they are allready build this way by Madisound (RB-I kit), so I didn't bother to change them (they are glued with epoxy).

I think I've seen someone here have build another and better version for the RB-I. Maybe I'll do the same.

                                    Very Nice.

Do you have any sound issues with the speakers being so close to the floor, or the sub pointing directly into the back wall?

My only concern would be the lack of breaking space for the receiver though. Do you need both a BDP and DVD player?

very cool looking and a great idea... one thing i would do though is build a wooden skirt that almost touches the floor to hide the wheels a little bit... might have to move the wheels in a little though to do it...

Well, mounting lcr so close to the floor is far from ideal. You will get early reflections from the floor, but with this design it was one of many tradeoffs. We wanted a sleek, low profile design.

The whole shabang is moved to another position when in use.

I have no idea what he is using now. I Think the HD recorder is gone, but replaced with a HD decoder. So far, no problem with overheating. Remember the door is not solid, only a frame with speakerfabric and the back is open. But I agree, it is not a lot of space abowe the reciever...

Well, that would make the whole rack look a bit more "heavy" and kind of ruin the sleek design - in my opinion.
