How do you clean gunk stuck to dome tweeters?

I have a dome tweeter with some lint and dust on the dome, but the dome itself is very sticky. How do I clean it?

The sticky stuff on a dome 'speeds' the sound across the surface of the dome.

They can't be cleaned other than gently picking off the larger pieces with tweezers. If it's plain old dust leave it alone.

Wise words. I once tried to clean a dome cloth tweeter (an old Audax TW034, I believe).

You can imagine how well things went.
