To book match or not to book match

I can't stand it anymore. I need some advice. I will have my own vacuum press by the end of next month. I have used one once to veneer my current Selah 3-ways, but I have three more big projects to veneer. Is there some rule of thumb about veneer species that work well to book match and others that don't? I don't ming the joinery, but it seems to me that some of the busier veneers are usually not book matched....and while I'm at it. If the veneer grain runs up and down the sides and front/back of your speakers, should you run across the top left to right in an effort to match grain all the way around? I would have to find a sheet of veneer more than 100" long if that were the case.
What do the big boys do. I want a top notch finished product.

    THanks for the help.

    Jon
