Slightly OT: Nice power conditioner on sale

I picked one of these up a while ago for $150 and thought I got a really good deal on it. Well, I saw a posting on Fatwallet stating that Amazon (through Tiger Direct) has these for $99 with free shipping! They go for around $200 on eBay so it's a pretty good price. They even have a toroidal transformer, unlike their Monster equivalents:

    Dang!

I just got one at Audioholic's for $149 incl shipping.

Everybody should should get one of these, cheap protection for your toys, and as Mazeroth says, the APC has the nice big torriod x-former and features true voltage regulation. :T

99! WoW! Makes me want to buy another one.....

I wonder if Audioholics has a 30 day price match guarantee :B

I have a monster power HTS 1600 (http://store.monstercable.com/outlet...d=85&catid=16), which i bought a few years back for 50% off on boxing day...would this APC product offer any advantages/improvement? From what I hear monster is garbage.

The APC is definitely nicer....but I don't know that you would "notice" any sort of performance gains in your system.... I'd trust the APC a lot more with my expensive gear though

Is this better than the Belkin PF60? I bought one almost one year ago, but I wouldn't mind the upgrade if this is one.

In my apartment I have 2-prong outlets where my HT is installed. Could I benefit from having a power conditioner? Should I fix the outlets?

I definitely reccomend power filtering if you don't have it. I have one of the Monster versions I bought with an employee discount way back when I worked for Circuit City. I'm sure it's not as nice as the APC, but it definitely improved the power going to the TV. I didn't have a flicker in the television when the fridge kicked on all the way on the other side of the house...

I dunno, I'd get the APC, but as silly as it sounds, I don't like the fact that it's not black. And not to mention that it's Tiger Direct that's selling it....

Hmm, you worked at CC but your bagging on TD Strange.... Tiger Direct isn't to bad. I bought a Logitech racing wheel from them once. Sometimes their prices are just right.

thanks for the heads-up. I ended up getting two, one for my HT and another for my home server. I didn't want to trust just a regular surge protector for server & main computer.

I picked one up, hard to resist since it included a voltage regulator and it had free shipping!

Yeah, after doing computer modding for years, I know this would be cake to do. If there's no rivets to drill out, it's almost too easy. But now that you point this out, I'm running out of excuses to not spend the $$ for one.

No rivets - three screws for the top cover, five more to detach the front pannel from the display assembly. Easy as pie.
