Tiny magnet particles ruining the performance of drivers?!

Did that blog post on ZaphAudio kind of bring out a little bit of paranoia with anyone else? It makes me want to run home and thoroughly check my drivers for performance problems! How common is this, any ideas?

I've had my hands on a lot of tweeters, so I can roughly put some odds on it. I'd say roughly 1 in 60 would have this problem.

It's easy to hear with sweeps, but the difficult part is that it's audible but somewhat masked when playing with music in a system. You just feel like something's wrong with the sound or it seems a bit edgy or bright. Consider that if you aren't getting the sound you want, checking the gap for crud might be one thing to do after you've expended many other options.

If we have the ability to run a distortion sweep, we have no chance to miss it on the measurement, don't we? A simple, non-professional measurement setup is inexpensive these days. ARTA package can do HD sweeps.
