Speaker Wire Sizing

I wasn't planning on buying wire yet so I have not done the reading in this area, however, Parts Express is having a great sale on Belkin wire. I will be building several sets of line arrays for my HT, all of them will be 3 way with an active crossover. I will be running 3 sets of wire to each speaker and the logest run will be about 50 feet. The large arrays will have 10-12 6" mids with a matching row of BG Neo 8s and probably 2, 12" woofs.

My questions are.

1) Is the wire sized based on the number of speakers, size, type or power?

2) What should one look for in a quality wire without breaking the bank?

3) Is there a HTG recommended supplier I can support?

4) Is there a link to a difinitive wire guide?

Also all the do's and dont's will be greatly appreciated.

Speaker wire size is mostly linked to the nominal imepdance of the speaker and the length of the run.

Power can also be considered, but usually only in extreme circumstances
