Is there anyone who might be able to explain the difference
(no, not that way, I mean difference in how they sound.)

And, has anyone ever built thesae out of counter-top laminate? - there's some nice perty designs...

IMO there's very little audible difference between a LT and a well designed ported system.......and ported are MUCH easier to build.

If you're talking about veneering with high pressure laminate, thousands of people have used it. My preferences are Nevarmar 'Rosewood' and Wilson Art 'Figured Mahogony'.

If your talking about Corian well not yet..........
