Can I modify My tweeter? PE DC28F

I want to pair my DC28F tweets with my RS180 drivers in my car. BUT the tweeters are freakin HUGE ! is there anyway I could take off that HUGE mounting lip to make them smaller ? anyone do this ?

or would I be better off just finding some new (smaller) tweets ?

It will be much easier to use the ND28F-6 instead. Similar (but not identical) perforance in a much more car friendly package.
2.5" flange diameter, 1.75" through hole.

I'd go for a good neo (Vifa D26, Seas 27TAFN, or the Daytons). The DC28F is not a very good tweeter, as far as measurements go.
