    Someone should test the new Dayton 6" PK165-8 midrange



    Looks like an interesting dedicated midrange for $29.90. 93dB 1W/1m efficiency and it's supposed to have a smooth and extended frequency response.

    It looks like a good contender as the mid for a high-efficiency dipole. I wonder what the xmax is...

      I'm going to have to order some XO parts for a build next week or so--I'll tack a couple on to the order and do some testing.

      I've never done any distortion testing--does Speaker Workshop do that?

        No unfortunately distortion testing software is very expensive. But you can do distortion testing by ear via playing of test tones. Use a known low distortion driver for reference. It's what I do and tends to correspond well with Zaph's actual measurements.

              The demo version is free and can still do distortion testing up to the fourth harmonic. The graphs can be exported to text files.
