    Off center tweeter question

I have no choice but to move this tweeter off center because I want a front port. Will this adversely affect the sound?

    It depends....

Sorry, but that's the correct answer.... without knowing the crossover schematic, and whether diffraction issues caused by the tweeter's position were considered, it's impossible to know how much your change will affect the sound... there's not enough data to know what will happen to your design.

Then again, if you are not a perfectionist, then I suppose the correct answer would be "perhaps, but then again, maybe not".

One thing for sure, having a port right next to a tweeter will cause diffraction artifacts. Audible, who knows?

What about putting the port in one of the lower corners? Would that permit you to center the tweeter?

Silly thought. Can't you have the port on any of the other 5 sides? The top surface comes to mind. Also why don't you try a simulation software to see how both configurations behave. You will then know for almost for sure.

why don't you just used a sealed enclosure?

How about a slot port or putting the tweeter higher on the baffle with the port below the woofer?

He could also use a pair of triangular ports on the bottom, one on each side of the woofer. Saves space. Or just use sealed
