Newbie; enough said

Yes from the title, I'm new. I'd like to say hello and sorry at the same time.
I'm posting here first because here is where my interest lies. I want to build a surround system. Left, Right, Center channel, and Sub to start. I want the Holy Grail build..............Awesome sound built for pennies. Too much to ask for?? I've been surfing several sites and HtGuide.com comes highly recommended.
I'm handy in the shop, can solder(maybe, been awhile), and can follow a wiring diagram.
Any and all advice for components, tips, places to buy stuff.....ect....ect, will be greatly appreciated.
Oh, the reason i said sorry up front, I try to research before i ask questions but sometimes not enough, So sorry for all my previous answered questions i'll ask.

Just follow one of the proven designs in the Mission Accomplished section. Recommendations can be made if you let everyone know what your budget and goal are. Awesome sound for pennies is a bit much to ask.

Coping someone else's work is the best way to get started. There are a lot of threads where someone documents everything. Once you pick a design out, searching can probably locate a good design thread.
